Stoke Careers Service
Stoke-on-Trent Careers Service provides careers information, advice and guidance to all young people aged between 11 and 19. We can work with people aged up to 25 years with a learning difficulty or disability. In order to have access to the careers service you need to be a Stoke-on-Trent resident. The support that we can offer includes:

  • career choice and planning

  • qualifications and how to choose college courses

  • college applications

  • university applications

  • apprenticeships

  • training courses

  • job applications

  • CVs

  • work experience

  • skills for employment - group work sessions

  • preparing for job interviews

Currently Stoke-on-Trent Careers Service is attached to most local high schools. We also see young people at local colleges and training providers and we have a drop in service for those young people who are still unsure of what to do in the future.

JET (Jobs Enterprise Training) 19+ years

The Jet scheme helps people who are unemployed get back into work or start their own business. Although it is based in the City Centre, JET operates outreach services in all communities across the city and offers work-based training specific to the individual's needs. It also has an employer-facing job brokerage service, which provides recruitment support for local businesses. Jet is a partnership project and is only possible with the support of several organisations.

One of the main priorities for the Jet is to reduce the number of unemployed people in Stoke-on-Trent and create a highly skilled, flexible local workforce that will contribute to a more diverse and competitive local economy.

The National Careers Service provides information, advice and guidance across England to help you make decisions on learning, training and work opportunities. The service offers confidential and impartial advice. This is supported by qualified careers advisers.
